Midnight Movies return to THE TLA hosted by Philly's own DJ Robert Drake!
That's right the TLA is returning to it's Art house/Grind house roots starting tonight (7/28) with a showing of the classic John Waters’ classic PINK FLAMINGOS . . .
Vice Squad is a movie I didn't see until I was in my early 20 but since then it's become a favorite of mine, the Brutal Pimp "Ramrod" played by Wings Hauser is one of the best characters in Exploitation Film History and the song "Neon Slime" sang by Wings is a classic!
Thanks to a tip from Kevin Johnson last week I was able to win this Ebay auction for a lot of very cool "Vice Squad" items!
First up is the original 1982 National Screen Service movie poster. Poster measures 27" x 40", is folded and in very good condition, no tears or pin holes!

I first became aware of Rak Graphics at Wizard World Philly, besides selling normal prints of his work it was his baseball card sized art that I really enjoyed! For a $1 each I got at Stripe from Gremlins and a Chucky of Child's Play! Here are some others I plan to pick up next time around . . .

I love the concept of "Christmas in July" and I usually try to fit in a few Horror Themed Christmas Films on July 25th! When I get home from work I'm going to view "Jack Frost 2" and "Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out", but here are 25 other suggestions as to watch tonight reviewed here as part of last years' "The 25 Days of Shitmas"!

I'm heading out to see The Dark Knight Rises with my Dad this evening, but still warned to post something real quick on the blog, this is a review I wrote for the movie "Ghost Town" about a year ago before we even had a blog!
Back in the 80s my Family and I would spend the majority of each Summer in Wildwood, New Jersey. The days were spent on the Beach and the Nights on the BoardWalk. The BoardWalk was a fun place filled with Amusement Rides and Carney Games that were mostly fixed, but once a week we would visit my favorite place in all of WildWood . . .
The Grocery Store!

In celebration of tonight being the 1000th Episode of Monday Night Raw I went back and gathered all the WWF Hasbro and WCW Galoob Toys that defined my Childhood!
Between recreating what I had seen on TV or making up my own story lines, I used to spend countless hours playing with these guys and they have the battle wounds to prove it!
The following figures below are pretty much a complete set of the early to mid 90s wrestling toys, I also included some Customs and Bend-ems that I acquired over the years, but left out my WWF/E Jakks, WCW Toybiz, and ECW Firgures from the late 90s.

Even though I myself have zero in way of tattoos, I always admired Horror related ones my friends have or one I spot online. So I figured why not show case them here on the blog.
The following were all done by Paul Acker of Deep Six Lab, Paul's work is top notch and and he has mastered doing faces of Horror Icons!

Even though November 2, 2012 seems forever and a day from now, The Colonial Theatre just announced that on date "Return of the Living Dead" will be playing as part of their First Friday Film Nights! Along with Poltergeist (8/3) Pumpkinhead (9/7) ,and Halloween 3 (10/12) The Colonial is going to be the place to be during the Late Summer and Fall, but on 11/2 we'll make love till we Die!

The Poster you see above is the Turkish Art used for the movie Phantasm 2 when it was release in Turkey and it belongs to a Man named Kevin Johnson! I meet Kevin very briefly at last year's Horrorhound Weekend: Cincinnati, we struck up a conversation cause he was wearing a "Vice Squad" shirt and being a fan of the movie and especially the Character "Ramrod", I had to know where he got it from. A few day after Horror Hound I was posting about the shirt on the SMF Page and he commented that he was he who I talked too . . . Small World!
Any way over the past year I noticed Kevin was always posting pictures of his insane poster collection and with his permission I'm going to share some of that said collection today! Most of these are the original poster and there are quite a few foreign posters also! Most of the foreign one he posted I never see until he uploaded them.
Here is volume one of his collection, I will post some more during the Week!
So another Friday the 13th may have came and went, but you still have another chance to get in on some Jason fun this weekend!
"The New Blood" Poster you see above is up for grabs this time around and comes to us from Chris Garofalo's of Quiltface Studios!

Here's a full recap of The 13th Annual "Blobfest" held today in Phoenixville, PA . . .
The Blobfest is a celebration of the 1958 Classic Film "The Blob", Phoenixville the town in which it was shot in, and The Colonial Theatre where many of the key scenes from the movie take place.
On Friday the first night of the 3 day event they do a re-enactment of the famous "running from the theater" scene at The Colonial!
I have yet to take part in "The Run Out", but this was my second year in a row where I checked out the all day street fair that happens on day two. Well actually last year I had a ticket to see one of the later screenings of "The Blob" so I got to the party sorta late, all the classic car where all gone and the vendors were starting to pack up not long after I got there. This year I didn't plan to make that same mistake, and even though it was pouring rain where I left my house in Philly this morning I had no doubt that the trip would be worth it. Miraculously when I got to Phoenixville the Sun was out and the Party was already in full swing!

Growing up in the 90s my favorite sport without a doubt was Basketball, when my friends and I weren't down at the local playground shooting hoops, we were on the street tossing a ball into a milk crate that was nailed to a telephone pole! I had Jerseys for Jordan, Bird, and my favorite player Shawn Kemp! Also around this time was the era of Starting LineUp Figures and I was just starting to become more of a collector then a kid who played with them . . . the truth of the matter was they weren't exactly all that fun to play with any way!
When this 1992 "Dream Team" Set came out, some how I was able to convince my folks to spend $79.99 at Kay-Bee Stores!
Today in honor of it being Friday the 13th, Fright Rags is releasing to Special Edition "Final Chapter" Shirts that will only be on the site until July 15th!
That gave me an idea about posting 13 of the best Jason Shirts on the net, most of these are way out of print, but if they are still for sale I will provide a link also!

A few months back on here I posted 15 Of The Most Bizarre PSAs, but this one takes the Cake!
What the fuck just happened? Sometime this weekend I am going to go on the hunt to find some more Batshit-Crazy PSAs, but something tells me I won't be able to top that one!

I think it goes with out saying you weren't truly a Pop Culture Icon of the 80s unless you had your own line of "Puffy Stickers"!
When I was younger and grocery shopping with my Mother I remember getting the WWF, A-Team, and He-Man ones that I gathered for this post, but seeing some of the ones that I didn't have like say "Dune" gave me a big laugh tonight!
Here's are some of the best, weirdest, and knockoff "Puffy Stickers" from the 80s!
Movie Tie-books were alway something I remember seeing more of when I was a kid, mostly in used book stores, I have gotten a handful of them over the years including a book that has the first 3 Nightmare on Elm Street movies, Videodrome, Cabin in the Woods, Child's Play 2, and Halloween 3 . . .
All of those are pretty cool in their own right and they make for some interesting reads cause there are some changes or twists in the plots compared to their movie counterparts . . .
For for instance Kincaid and Joey both die in the Elm Street 3 book and Taryn is black and not recovering drug addict but just a teen runaway!
Ok so now on to some fake covers to books that never got the tie-in treatment, but I would love to have sitting on my bookshelf!
(These all come from a artist by the name Len Connor )
I like AMC's The Walking Dead a lot, but I'd say I'm a much bigger fan of the Comicbook Series. Issue #100 just hit stores today and up to this point my two favorite characters have been "Carl" (He's 100% less annoying than his TV counterpart, in fact he's BadAss in the books) and the Batshit Crazy "Michonne"!
The image you see above is by Philly Artist Jeffro Kilpatrick and is coming to Shirt Punch this Friday July 13th! This Walking Dead shirt featuring "Michonne" will only be available to purchase for that 24 Hour period and will only set you back $10!
You can follow the Jeff by liking his Facebook page right (HERE)

Philly's Own Uncle Eddy would have be proud!

Be on the lookout for that and don't miss out on all the special Give-A-Ways at Dr. Terrors Blog of Horrors Facebook Page starting Friday the 13th also!

Long before he was a downloadable character in a recent Mortal Kombat game or faced off against Jason in "Freddy vs. Jason", Freddy Krueger was a Legend in the Squared Circle!
Ok well make that "Nightmare Freddie", a gimmick used by Doug
Gilbert based off our favorite Bastard Son of 1000 Maniacs!

SpeedBud The 3rd!
SpeedBud #3 was the Bestest Cat Ever, my family got him in the Fall of 1993 and he was still with us until last July.
The origin of the name "SpeedBud" can be traced all the way back to 1987 when five year old me named my first kitten after my Aunt's two cats Speedy and Buddy. Since then the name just sticked and it became sort of a Dr. Who style "Regeneration" when ever one died he was replaced but another Small Grey Kitten, but since I already have 2 Cats, I have yet to keep this tradition going as of right now.
Here's some Pics from SpeedBud's time on Earth . . .
This was taken in 94, I remember this day this day well because the guy the Veterinarian hired to be Santa Claus was allergic to cats! And that's how I ended up in the picture holding SpeedBud and not him.
(P.S. there was no Flood that day, even though my pants say otherwise lol)
Last Night The Colonial Theatre hosted a Freddy Double Feature screenings 35mm Prints of both "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" & "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child" . . .
As Promised on the Shit Movie Fest FaceBook Page here is the latest give-a-way featuring the two Limited Edition Nightmare On Elm Street Prints done for the show by JD Korejko . . .
To Enter All You Have To Do Is Post Below In The Board's Comment Section (Not The SMF FacePage Please) and Say What Your Favorite Scene is from both Elm Street 4 & 5!( That's all there is to it!)
The Deadline for this 2 Poster Give-A-Way is Midnight July 21st, so have your entry in by then and please also include your Email Address in your Comment so I can reach you if "A Winner Is You"!
All entries will be given a Number and a Winner will be picked out using the Quick Random Number Generator on my phone, so best of luck and thanks playing!
BTW when you're done don't forget to show Jason some Love in this other SMF Give-A-Way!
That Contest Can Be Found Right (HERE) and Ends Midnight July 29th!

So this came in the mail today!
I ordered it from Mondo about month back, I missed out on the "Maniac" release, but after hearing that this and a Vinyl of "Drive" was in the works I stalked the Mondo Twitter Page faithfully!
Here's some pics taken off Bloody-Disgusting.com since they are better then what my camera phone will take!
I'm not going to listen to it just yet, cause I think an official "Listening Party" with Chris and Christine is the way to go!
