EPIC! I LOVE me some Phantasm. My favorite scene is when Mike is alone in the dark kitchen, and SUDDENLY the door flies across the kitchen floor, and we here "Hee hee hee....BOOOOOYYYY" and the Phantasm theme kicks in...

My favorite scene in Phantasm has to be when Reggie wanders into Mike and Jody's house after they try to dispose of the Tall Man's transformed finger-bug-creature, and the creature proceeds to attack him. I just love his earnest line delivery when he exclaims, "What the hell is going on????!!!!." Makes me smile every time.

If I had to pick one it would be from part two when Reggie makes the double-double barrel sawed off shotguns. That entire shopping scene is just amazing.

The infamous silver sphere scene where the ball is chasing Mike, he's captured by the Tall Man's assistant, ducks and all a sudden it sounds like the inside of a dentist's office and blood is spraying everywhere.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is by far when the Tall Man is hanging by the tree in the fourth film and convincing Mike to let him down because he has learnt his lesson.
ReplyDeleteJust has the perfect amount of creepiness and also shows the naivety of Mike and others his age, plus I love how they managed to splice in unused footage from the first film into the 4th, it just seems like it was all planned, it came out perfect.
And yeah fair enough I would love a fifth film but I recently watched the 4 films again and was happy with the ending we were provided with as even though not the best, it fit.
What I would like to know is what exactly happened to Jebediah after he entered the other world and came back as the Tall Man.

When they go back in time to the origins, and the Tall Man is pleading with Mike to stay... it shows an entirely new dimension to the character, and I have always felt bad the fifth film was never made. ReplyDeleteMy favorite is when, in the beginning of the original, when Tommy is having sex with the "Lady in Lavender." She's on top of him and the close-up of her face switches to that of The Tall Man!
ReplyDeleteThe Tall Man standing over Mike's bed and the two dwarves jump out from each side. They image went through my head for years after seeing that movie. Great scene that will live on forever.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite scene is when the main characters in the original "Phantasm" enter the room with all those containers, and that musical hum just sucks you right into the moment. I love listening to that piece of music sometimes.

ReplyDeleteCan't forget the scene int he fist Phantasm movie when Mike is running in the mausoleum, gets grabbed by the guy and gets away from him just in time before the sphere hits the guy in the head. Gotta love how it drills into his head, the blood spraying, the sounds it makes, and not to mention the guys pees himself. :)
