Exhumed Films eX-Fest 2 (April 29, 2012)

(eX-Fest poster by Justin Miller of HaunteLove)

Yesterday Exhumed Films hosted their Second "eX-Fest" Event, the eX-Fest has become sorta of a companion piece to their famed "24 Hour Horror-thon" that takes place every October around Halloween Weekend.
I been anticipating this show since it was announced cause the very 1st eX-Fest (May of 2011) was a Mind Blowing mix of Obscure Movies that most people have never heard of ,and even had a hard time trying to track down any info on them after the event was over! Before I get into my recap of what I saw yesterday, here's a quick rundown of last year's line to give you an idea of how hight the bar was set with First eX-Fest!
2011's Show included "Cut-throats Nine"  a 1972 Western, My favorite film of the day was "No Way Out"  an Italian Revenge film from 1973 stared Alain Delon of "Le Samoura├»", "The Face with Two Left Feet" which is hard to explain besides saying the main actor looked like John Travolta's  Clone and the makers of the movie use that to their advantage in every way possible! Also featured was "Savage!" a Blaxploitation Movie via The Philippines, "Redneck Miller" which many people thought was the highlight of the show; "Five Fingers of Death", and to close out the show was the 70s Adult Version of "Cinderella"! That was a pretty stacked line up and I was sure how they were going to be able to top them self's this time around but I am very happy to report that they did and the show lived up to the HYPE!

Chiller Weekend (Spring 2012)

I just got back from the Spring Time Edition of the "Chiller Theatre Expo", if you ever been to the Chiller show you know it's hard to fit everything in a night so this time around I went to the Friday and Saturday Portion of the Show. During the Weekend I got to hang with some great people like The Lombardos (Nick & Nikki), Kristy Jett, Sean VHSPS, Chris Ott, and also meet Jimmy (of Dr. Terrors' Blog of Horrors ) in person for the first time and also Tiffany who posts on the SMF Facebook Page. It was a Fantastic time, but the crowds were way overwhelming . . . Saturday you couldn't even move around so I ended up jetting around 3pm. Friday night was less packed so I got the majority of my DVD Buys and Guest Signings in that night, I also spent a lot of time shooting the shit with Nick and Nikki which was the highlight of my weekend, well it's a tie cause K.J., James, and I had an EpicFail/You Had To Be There of a Lunch at a Local Chinese Restaurant before the Show!

Rather then bore you with tons of stupid "personal" details, here a Shit-load of Pics from the weekend and also my Chiller "Loot" . . .

Blood on the Beach 2012 (Weekend Recap)

Here's an abbreviated recap of this past weekend's Blood on the Beach Horror Con that took place in Virginia Beach, VA,

It usually takes me 2 posts to fit everything it, but as my good friend John (Freddy in Space) recently said it gets harder and harder to write a full Horror Recap . . . Most of these shows consists of Binge Drinking at the Bar/Hotel Room, Inside Jokes with Friends, and Had to be There Moments . . . The Fact that you are there for a Horror Con almost becomes an after thought at times. I'm going to do my best to feature some of the Highlights from weekend and try to bore you with the details.

A look at some of the awesome Art I have acquired over the Years (Part 2 of 2)

So here's Part 2 of my Art Collection posts, a lot of these are Horror Movie Posters from either Mondo or Fright Rags, but there are also some nonMovie Posters in the Mix. . . Enjoy

This is something I picked up from It's called "The Creeps" and it by the artist Ron Zakrin
This is a painting named "The Snow Bride" from the famous artist Tara McPherson, it's one of my favorite things I own!

A look at some of the awesome Art I have acquired over the Years (Part 1 of 2)

Over the years I been slowly but surely building my self a pretty sweet Art Collection, it helps to have some Extremely talented friends such as Christine Larsen (The Larsen , Chris Ott (London 1888), Chris Garofalo (Quiltface Studios) who are constantly upping their craft each time I see them! Also from time to time I luck out on scoring a Mondo Poster aka Winning the Lottery. I'm going to break this down into 2 posts with the First Post Dealing with Art I got off of Friends, and the Second Post focusing on stuff I got off the Net!

Without any further ado, here's some of the Best Posters, Prints, Canvases, and any other types of Art that I am the Proud Owner of!

I'll start with Christine Larsen sine I've known here the longest and if you ever been to the SMF Facebook Page you know she does 90% of the Art on it . . .

"It Came From Beyond" is one of the earliest pieces I got off her, it was for a art she had where she did about 8 Canvases for Fake B-Movies, She made up the titles and everything!

This is "The Pit" and I was given this as an X-mas Print a couple years back.

There is so much going on in this painting, including an lady with an Eagle's heading getting her Boobs squeezed by a Demon!

"The Pervert" was purchased by me last May at one of her 12 Steps Down shows, I bought it cause it sorta of reminds me of  Videodrome with the whole TV thing going on.

My Very Own Cabin in the Woods . . .

Yesterday like many of my fellow Horror Loving Friends I took the trip to the local Ghettoplex to see the highly anticipated "Cabin in the Woods". I got to say the movie more then deliver the goods, I won't spoil anything or heck even review the movie here cause it's a film that almost requires you to go in to seeing it blindly to fully appreciate the Story and Twists . . . In other words the Trailer  really gives way to much away!

Now even though when I was watching Cabin I was creeped out by a lot of what I was seeing (but in a good way mind you), the movie oddly enough inspired me to want to visit my Dad's Hunting Cabin sometime this Summer.
He and his friend Fran purchased this place back in the mid80s, it's about 3 hours north west of Philly and from what I remember is pretty secluded in way of neighbors with maybe the closest one being about a mile up the road. I haven't been up there in easily 10 years but I dug threw some pictures last night and I feel it's stupid not to at least visit this land every once in awhile . . . Even if the place will still give me the creeps when I'm alone at Night . . What can I say I'm a City Boy, Dark Wood aren't really something I'm sure I could get use too!

Here are some pictures of the property  and some childhood memories of having a Hunter in the family . . .

Here's a recent picture of the Cabin, I remember it having two bed rooms, a fireplace, and an attic no normal size person would be able to get too . . . the thing was more like a crawl space that anything.

15 of the Most Bizarre Public Service Announcements Ever Made!

On the show Arrested Development when George Bluth wanted to teach his kids a lesson he would have his good friend J. Walter Weatherman act out the most horrible scenarios to get whatever point across. After scaring the kids for life, he'd usually followed it up by saying "And that's why you don't (Whatever)!"

For the most part George's plans succeeded, but what about the rest of us nonBluth Kids?
How would we ever know Not to Talk to Strangers, Do Drugs, Or to Never Jump Into A Empty Swimming Pool? Oh well we had Public Service Announcements to rely on for that! Here's 15 of the Most  Bizarre P.S.A.s to ever Air on TV! Some really suck at getting their point across and others are Creepy as Fuck! (But I guess that's what they were going for)

15: The Hoff With Something To Grow On!
I say fuck that little bitch, that was way Rude of her!

15 of the Most Memorable Bars In Movies . . .

Here's a little list I started thinking up last night while I was watching "From Dusk Till Dawn". The bar in that movie ("The Titty Twister") plays such a prominent role that after the screening I began to jot down the names of other Fictional Bars that were much more than just a setting, but also a Character in their own right! This list spans from a Football Club in England to a Galaxy Far, Far Away . . .

015: Eurotrip ~ Feisty Goat
When our young, just out of High School American tourists, go looking for a cold beer and to kill some time in London maybe entering a bar called "The Festy Goat" wasn't the wisest of choices. They were about to get their heads bashed in by the Football Club's Leader (Played by Vinnie Jones) until they knew the official Man U Fight Song . . .

Wait that was actually the song?

More Love For The Creature from the Black Lagoon

Since my post last January about the Gill-Man titled "My Ode to The Creature from the Black Lagoon" my own personal collection has grown considerably and I even had the pleasure meeting Ricou Browning, who played the Creature in all the underwater scenes for the 3 films! Here are some toys, poster/prints, and other odds & ends I have gathered in the last few months . . .

First and foremost I got this Gill-man figure done by Terry Cruikshank Creations at March's Monster Mania.
It's almost 2 feet high and is highly detailed! I have been a fan of Terry's work for awhile and was finally at a Horror Convention where I didn't have to worry about how I was going to get something I bought from him home. Needless to say this is my favorite Gill-Man related item in my collection and it's going to be pretty hard to top!

Day By Day Armageddon (The J.L. Bourne Series)

I've seen a lot of people in the last couple weeks say they have been going through some serious "Walking Dead" withdrawal. For those of you who started watching the show before reading the comic book you could use this time in-between the next season to catch up on Robert Kirkman's series that's about to soon hit the 100 issues milestone . . . For everyone else I highly recommend another form of zombie fiction by the name of "Day By Day Armageddon" . . .

Written by J.L. Bourne around 2004 as an online writing gig, Day By Day Armageddon soon became popular enough that it ended up being published into a book around 2007. I remember a co-worker of mine at the time reading it with this cover below . . .

90s Wrestling Toys Vol. 3 (More Hasbro, Bend-ems, and Galoob)

A couple months ago when I was posting the other two Wrestling Toys Flashbacks Posts (Part 1 & Part 2 )
I totally got caught up with looking for some deals on Ebay! I set a $15 before shipping limit goal for myself and only broke it onnce because as you will se below it was for one of the rarer WCW figures . . .

This Dustin Rhodes WCW Galoob Figure was only released in the U.K., this figures are pretty hard to come by because of that!

Ric Flair, Rick & Scott Steiner, and Lex Luger
I owned all these guys in the WCW Galoob line but never the WWF Hasbro Line, save for Flair they all look better as a Hasbro imo

April Happening Here on the SMF Blog . . .

Well my month is nowhere near as packed as it was in March, which isn't necessary a bad thing cause last month really took it's toll on me. I got some pretty cool things I am looking forward to and I am happy to say they are a lot more spread out!

Sunday April 1st
 Shit Movie Fest Presents: Stu-A-Mania

Today is the monthly Shit Movie Party, this month it's a Wrestling themed show and is Dubbed "Stu-A-Mania". You can read all the details HERE
I'm really looking forward to playing those movies later today with a crowd and later see team "Just Bring It" lay waste to John Cena! WrestleMania makes me feel young again!
